Last year, the Light Microscopy Core Facility IMG user Jiří Černý was awarded the Expert Jury Award for the Best Photo for II. scientific field - Science Photogenic. Now you have the chance to join this years contest! From Monday, 6 May 2024, employees of the Czech Academy of Sciences can begin submitting their entries for the eleventh edition of the Photogenic Science photo contest, where you have a chance for your photo to be selected for the representative calendar of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the annual Photogenic Science exhibition. This year, three competition categories have been announced: main category – Photogenic Science, secondary category – Intergenerational Science, special category – Film Photography The deadline for submissions is 17 June 2024. The results of the competition will be announced at the opening night of the exhibition, and the best photos will be awarded valuable prizes. In the event of the absence of the awarded author at the results ceremony, the prizes will be handed over based on mutual agreement between the author and the contest organizers.Prizes awarded by the expert jury in the main category: 1st place – non-cash prize worth up to CZK 5,000 and a yearly subscription to the Živa magazine 2nd place – non-cash prize worth up to CZK 4,000 and a yearly subscription to the Živa magazine 3rd place – non-cash prize worth up to CZK 3,000 and a yearly subscription to the Živa magazine + Best photo in Research Area I – non-cash prize worth up to CZK 3,000 + Best photo in Research Area II – non-cash prize worth up to CZK 3,000 + Best photo in Research Area III – non-cash prize worth up to CZK 3,000Prizes awarded by the expert jury in the secondary categories: 1st place – non-cash prize worth up to CZK 5,000 2nd place – non-cash prize worth up to CZK 4,000 3rd place – non-cash prize worth up to CZK 3,000Prizes awarded in the special categories: Prize for the winner in the special category “Analog Photography” – non-cash prize worth CZK 2,000 Prize from the Academy Council of the CAS – non-cash prize worth CZK 3,000 Prize for the winner of the People’s Choice Award / online vote on the Facebook page of the CAS – non-cash prize worth CZK 1,000 Please note: In the main category, only photos taken from 2022 onwards can be submitted, and the "Film Photography category" has no specified theme.
