Zákopy místo výkopů: archaeological heritage in the south of Ukraine at the time of war Archaeological heritage in the South of Ukraine has met numerous challenges since the beginning of the war in 2014. Some Ukrainian museums, as well as archaeological sites, were destroyed or damaged. Other are forced to urgently prepare collections for evacuation, or to carry out evacuation measures directly. Seized expositions in the occupied territories, as well as finds from illegally conducted excavations, are being systematically exported to occupied Crimea or Russia. The question also arises about the possibility of future archaeological excavations in de-occupied territories, which will remain mined for a long time.
